Official Summary[edit]
"Sarah Morgan takes the player with her as she investigates a lead on an Artifact. The player meets John Savea, the UC Vanguard recruiting officer, who points you and Sarah to a Vanguard volunteer on Cydonia, Mars. You investigate, and find that the Vanguard went missing patrolling "the Old Neighborhood" - the Sol System. Patrol the planets of Venus, Jupiter, and Saturn with Sarah. Find the missing Vanguard and rescue them."
Quick Walkthrough[edit]
- Talk to Sarah Morgan.
- Talk to John Tuala at the UC Vanguard recruitment desk in the MAST lobby.
- Ask Jack in the Broken Spear about Moara Otero.
- Pay Moara's tab or persuade Jack to let it go (Sarah can reduce it).
- Sneak past (or destroy) the Va'ruun Zealot ships and access the logs of the UC satellite.
- Search for clues about Moara against Spacers at the Nova Galactic Staryard orbiting Luna.
- Disable Moara's Ship (possible by reducing its health to zero), board it and get past the Ecliptic to reach the cockpit.
- Talk to Moara and obtain the artifact.
- Return to the Lodge and place the artifact.
- Talk to Sarah Morgan.
Detailed Walkthrough[edit]
Meet the members[edit]
Sarah has recommended, "You should take some time to get settled in. Introduce yourself to everyone. Some of our members aren't here, but you'll meet them soon. Come find me when you're ready."
Talk to Walter and Matteo, then Noel. Store items in your personal safe. Take a nap. Check other rooms for books and slates. Check the basement. Talk to Vasco and then Sarah.
Walter Stroud[edit]
Walter Stroud apologizes for calling you a rock breaker, shares his frustration with Barrett's shenanigans, and tells you about the Lodge's modification and research equipment. You can chat about his role in Constellation, your visions, and Walter's company Stroud-Eklund.
Matteo Khatri[edit]
Matteo Khatri is concerned about your well-being and you can chat about artifacts, your visions, and his background.
Noel[edit]
Noel chats about the artifacts, your vision, the Constellation Mission Board, offers to buy organic resources, and gives you a short tour of the Lodge.
Vasco[edit]
Vasco offers his services as a companion, and informs you about exploration outpost development. You can chat about Barrett and Vasco's history. You can assign Vasco to your ship (or one of your outposts).
Sarah Morgan[edit]
Chat With Sarah about Constellation and the artifacts.
She has a promising tip about another artifact from John Tuala, her contact in the UC Vanguard's recruiting office, and wants you two to follow it so she has an opportunity so see how you handle yourself and so you can learn more about Constellation. She also tells you a bit about UC Vanguard.
You get yet another opportunity to do things on your own. If you proceed, Sarah will be locked as your companion for the rest of the mission. You can assign Sarah to your ship.
MAST Tower[edit]
Head to the Vanguard recruiting office at Mast Tower where Sarah's contact works. Talk to John Tuala about Constellation business. Moara Otero of the UC Vanguard patrols the Sol System. Moara has a fancy piece of metal that matches Sarah's description.
Tuala doesn't know where exactly Moara is right now, but recommends checking Cydonia on Mars, especially the bars. He also tries to recruit you into the UC Vanguard.
You can choose to ignore the tip you received to go to Mars, and actually search for Moara yourself. Going straight to Neptune you will find Moara, allowing you to skip the chase.
Cydonia[edit]
Fly to Mars, land at Cydonia Spaceport, enter the underground city, pass the UC Security office on the left, and go into the Broken Spear on the right. Jack behind the bar knows Moara, who went on patrol and "hasn't been back since." Jack thinks that Moara may be dead. Although he knows where Moara was going, he is reluctant to tell you. Moara has a substantial open tab of
2,500 at the Broken Spear. Jack would like to trade his information for these credits.
| Check out the Mission Board MQ102 -- points to Cydonia Mission Board "Got any work?"
|
Sarah will call out that Jack is overcharging and lower the price to
1,000. You can either pay Moara's tab, or try to persuade Jack to give you the information for free. (You can still persuade Jack to give you the information for free after you have Sarah talk to him, but you will only get the first affinity change.)
Eventually Jack will tell you that Moara was talking about the Lady of Love, which means Venus. That is not much information, but it's a lead to follow.
The Lady of Love[edit]
Jump into your ship and fly to Venus where you run into a cluster of Va'ruun zealot ships sitting close to a UC satellite beacon that may tell you if Moara passed Venus recently. Sarah counsels you to lower the ship's power output and sneak by the zealots. Of course you can simply attack the ships. For the sneaky attempt cut power to all ship systems but one bar to engines and tiptoe the almost 6 km to the satellite. On the way you pick up some of the zealots' com chatter.
When you are closer than 500 m you can activate the beacon to replay a message from Moara. He was on his way to Nova Galactic staryard in Luna's orbit to pick up parts for emergency repairs.
Unfortunately Earth and everything around it was abandoned years ago and the old staryards are crawling with spacers and other scavengers.
Nova Galactic Staryard[edit]
So fly to Luna and approach the staryard. If you would like to take your walk on the moon Sarah is all for it. Eventually you dock at the space station. If you hail it you only get static in response.
Two steps in you find a corpse and Sarah tells you about spacers. Apparently there was a conflict between spacers and someone else. A bit deeper in you encounter a firefight between spacers and Ecliptic mercenaries which makes Sarah wonder what Ecliptic are doing here. You need to go north towards the control room, opposite of the medical ward. Fight your way through the control room and go into the workroom. Enter the husk in the center of the workroom and find Vanguard Moara's Slate on a table. Moara went to Neptune and dared spacers to follow him.
Neptune[edit]
So it's Neptune next where you find Moara's Ship drifting. When you approach the ship's weapons are powering up and it begins to fire on you. At the same time you receive a hail from Moara Otero who tells you that his ship is under control of mercs. You need to disable the ship's engines, board it and clear it of ecliptic. Moara is locked in the locked cockpit. To release him you need to grab Moara's Ship Key from an ecliptic's corpse.
Moara thinks that Ecliptic was hired by some pirates, thieves or scavengers who wanted to interfere with UC Vanguard operations in the area. Moara seems a bit world weary. You can encourage him to keep up his work with the Vanguard or you can offer him a job. He has no issue handing over the artifact, he was using it merely as a hood ornament anyway. So grab it from the ship's front window and head back to the Lodge.
Back to the Lodge[edit]
Fly back to the Lodge and place artifact beta into the artifact display. Noel and Sarah discuss new readings but no new insights are revealed. Sarah makes you full member of Constellation and asks if you would like to continue travelling together. You can proceed as you like and Sarah gives pointers to the next steps you can take:
- Sam Coe has been putting together an expedition in Freestar space: The Empty Nest.
- You can meet Vladimir at the Eye, a constellation starstation in Jemision's orbit. Vladimir has been tracking down more anomalies: Into the Unknown.
- There has been no word from Barrett yet, so you should check on him. Starting point would be Vectera where Argos Extractors is packing up the mining operation: Back to Vectera.
Sarah recommends to grab Barrett first, but the choice is yours.
Notes[edit]
- The tour Noel gives you at the Lodge is a bit buggy. Sometimes it doesn't start at all. If it starts you should receive the activity 'Follow Noel' and she should start talking about the library. If the tour doesn't start you have to reload a save.

- Any text displayed in angle brackets (e.g.,
<Alias=LocationHold>) is dynamically set by the Radiant Mission system, and will be filled in with the appropriate word(s) when seen in game. - Not all entries may appear in your log; which entries appear and which entries do not depends on the manner in which the mission is done.
- Stages are not always in order of progress. This is usually the case with missions that have multiple possible outcomes or missions where certain tasks may be done in any order. Some stages may therefore repeat objectives seen in other stages.
- If an entry is marked as "Finishes Mission" it means the mission disappears from the Active Mission list, but you may still receive new entries for that mission.
- On the PC, it is possible to use the console to advance through the mission by entering
setstage MQ102 stage, wherestageis the number of the stage you wish to complete. It is not possible to un-complete (i.e. go back) mission stages, but it is possible to clear all stages of the mission usingresetquest MQ102.
