How did I get my start? From a history book, believe it or not. The name "Barbeau" is French for barbel, a carp-like fish, and those who wore the name Barbeau on their jackets were fisherman.
But unlike my ancestors, I preferred my fish on dry land, cooking over a searing hot skillet. And so I decided to trade in my pole for a pan, and my nets for a knife. I have since spent a lifetime chasing the perfect recipe, and in this book you will find the fruits of that endeavor.
[Océane Barbeau's "Near Perfect Recipes" is a kitchen book filled with a variety of dinner entrées popular with both laymen and master chefs alike. The inside of the book has the following handwritten inscription: "To my friend, Harbhajan Viyas, the only person in the Settled Systems who could lay claim to the perfect vindaloo."
